The original roof was installed in 1996. The original builder (not Secure Roofing) used CertainTeed Shingles. The roof was leaking and had noticeable wear and tear. A lawsuit settlement determined that the organic roofing shingles manufactured by CertainTeed Corporation from July 1, 1987, through 2005 were defective and failed to perform as promised when installed on buildings in the United States and Canada. Secure Roofing installed the roof on this home in Elk Mound, WI. The CertainTeed shingles were removed, and Biltmore Architectural Shingles were installed. This project took two days.
